Wonderful to see you at the Jay County Community Open House!

October 19, 2021

We’re very excited with the immense success of our Jay County Community Open House last week! The Commercial Review newspaper, which covers the region, published an article about the event. We also held a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Jay County Chamber of Commerce to celebrate the launch of our new and upgraded towers in the Jay County area.

The article in the Commercial Review is behind a paywall but here’s a bit from it:

“Rather than having a single presentation, the open house was designed as an opportunity for Jay County residents to visit any time over a four-hour period and meet one-on-one with representatives about the broadband internet service that may be available to them.

… “‘We’re here to deliver the same services that you’re receiving in town out in the rural communities,’ said Aaron Miller, Watch’s general manager for north and central Indiana.

… “The company was also touting job openings for sales support representatives, field service technicians and tower services technicians based in Portland. … It also has sites in northern Randolph County and southern Adams County that help to service Jay County customers, with another expected to go online soon in Fort Recovery. (An additional eight sites with older “legacy equipment” also help to serve the county.)”

We were very pleased to welcome a number of officials at both events, including Jay County Commission President Chad Aker who, according to the Commercial Review, “emphasized the importance of high-speed internet in rural areas, specifically noting the need for students with the implementation of e-learning and remote learning.” The article noted that Watch set up 10 wifi hotspots so that Jay School Corporation students could access high-speed internet during last year’s pandemic.

“‘The way the world is right now, everything is technologically advanced,” [Aker] said. “Everything is driving by wireless communication. It’s driven by computers. This is just something Jay County needs.’”

Watch is hosting a series of Community Open Houses throughout our service area so that current and potential customers can meet face-to-face with company representatives to discuss how we can best internet needs and bundle services that households need. We hope to see you at an upcoming Open House!
